Remembering Rumi

Beloved

There comes a holy
and transparent time
when every touch
of beauty
opens the heartto tears.
This is the time
the Beloved of heaven
is brought tenderly on earth.
This is the time
of the opening
of the ROSE."

Four Questions

She asked me,Do you know what happens? When the autumn stays?I said yes & asked her to look into my empty eyes,Where tears desperate to burst had dried,Salting my throat, not letting me breathe,And thus making me flinch….She asked me,Do you know after suffering pain?Sometimes there lies a greater pain?I said yes and asked her to behold my lips,Where words had painfully stopped,In spite of feeling everything,Thus making me impertinent….She asked me,Do you know the art of absorbing?Absorbing another person’s pain?I said yes, & asked her to feel my warm hands,That reflected the heat of my burning soul,Heat of absorbing her miseries,Thus making me pervious….She asked me,Do you know when love reaches its zenith,It often becomes revengeful,This time I remained silent,Just trying to swallow her words,She asked me then nothing….And we kept looking into each other’s eyes,Trying to hold unspeakable love,As if we had gone insane,While holding our tears,To conceal our pain…..

Come Crashing again

Shall I recede?
life is resonating
time is tuning
tsunami has elapsed
the way air has behaved
passion has shaved
your love caved
into my  timeless dreams
Painful streams
maybe destiny will
sail into your oceans
Rolling into you
like the waves from the shore
rippling out to the vastness of the sea
that beckons my ship of folly

I'll not ask you
to stand the night vigil
on the shoreline
of memory

You are here
on the beaches of my glory
even though I drift the tides

If you should look
into a starlit night
and see a refraction of me
know only that
I will one day
come crashing again
to the shore
swept homeward
by the pull
of the tide
and
you.

Strange days………………………

Dreadful nights,
Sunken thoughts,
shallow tides,
Unfaithful dreams,
Unrequited highs……
Quest of betrayal,
Is it THE END
My lovely friend?
surrender or dive,
Fake or smile,
Another life,
where, zeros meets binaries,
tsunami of pain,
triangle of minds,
Circle with open ends!
Collide with,
ray of light,
Your shoulder my plight.
No strands,
No horses to hold on,
Enter & exit,
no farewells, no regrets,
politically correct,
socially radical.
Without any conclusions,
with all confusions,
Not a combat of love,
wireless connection.
My blood shot eyes!
your aroused lifestyle,
lost souls,
year after years
with same old fears,
battling,
merely surviving.
So let go!
Dislodge without reciprocating.
Slumber on tranquilizers,
hallucinate on precedent.
Pledge me not,
Consider me yes.
Perceive without watching,
Listen without hearing.
Suffer in temptation, desperation, isolation, Separation, condemnation.
Wake up!
Inaugurate,
your
Strange days!

Winter Rain, our Refrain

The first winter rain became our refrain, prose melted into poetry and streamed out in prose again, in circles, and the motifs multiplied, manifold. There were purple patches and crimson moments, then the dry spells came, and ironic expressions arose in eloquent swelters, “I cannot write, I cannot.” This became another refrain, the poetry the prose all froze, but only in the words that would not come. Those unforthcoming words still spinning miracles in life woven and unwoven of them, unseen, un-spelled, unspoken, unsaid, unheard of. At their peak when they come together aleph like, perhaps they crystallize in aphorisms; but without prosaic elaboration and poetic articulation, what good would writing be at all? So, I no longer know whether it is prose or poetry we study tomorrow, and when we write, what is to separate the two. And if we break out into song, or break it all down into a single aphorism; what it means or where all this is headed. I have no clue; please don’t follow me. Dead cliché, but follow you. I will die here using this term—its equivalent in eastern aesthetics is built on much more sane psychological mapping—but perhaps in this oriental shadow you will identify more readily whereabouts I mean when I put it the Freudian ego’s I. Let me put it into a bowl of rose water and seal it in an air tight glass jar. Raise it to the highest precipice I can reach, tip it over. Then we can, all of us: watch it splatter, shatter. When its shards come undone too by the sheer gravity of the moment, then there will be only you, whole; where I was but a shattered idiot going on about poetry, prose and aphorisms.

My dove, my beautiful one,
Arise, arise!
The night-dew lies
Upon my lips and eyes.
The odorous winds are weaving
A music of sighs
Arise, arise,
My dove, my beautiful one!
I wait by the cedar tree,
My mentor, my love.
White breast of the dove,
My chest shall be your bed.
The pale dew lies
Like a veil on my head,
My fair one, my fair dove,
Arise, arise!
From dewy dreams, my soul, arise,
From love’s deep slumber and from death,
For lot the trees are full of sighs
Whose leaves the morn admonished.
Eastward the gradual dawn prevails
Where softly-burning fires appear,
Making to tremble all those veils
Of grey and golden gossamer.
While sweetly, gently, secretly,
The flowery bells of morn are stirred
And the wise choirs of fairy
Begin (innumerous!) to be heard.
Called a star's orbit to pursue,
What is the darkness, star to you?
Roll on in bliss, traverse this age---
Its misery far from you and strange.
Let farthest world your light secure.
[Apathy*] is sin you must abjure.
But one command is yours: be pure!

Desires Vs Destiny:

It's a bizarre string of events,
Strangely compelling and full of lessons,
A minute of hope, a minute of rejoice,
A second of expectations,
Stitched with,
A moment of pain and uncontrolled tears,
Shed by the cobweb of my fears,
Heart tearing pain,
Making me insane,
A fight between desire and destiny,
At one moment,
The earth is removed,
Underneath my feat,
And I jump on my seat,
Shivering, sobbing, clutching my fists,
The next moment I get a high,
That whispers are made,
On the seventh sky,
To decide who’s going to get the trophy,
My desires or my destiny,
And I am all smiles,
Hoping for the best to happen,
When suddenly the next instance,
My heart is cut without a weapon,
It is a series of events indeed,
Unfolding and following each other,
Trailing one after another,
But now I can’t go any further,
To chase this impossibility,
I am done,
Over run,
And smiling at this irony,
While watching my life’s drama,
And thinking hard,
I have to be brave and strong,
what I have done wrong,
Clear the damages with fake smiles,
And begin again,
The creation of my desires,
Crushed by my destiny,
Every single moment,
Every single second,
In which I stitched my dreams,
Now it has been torn and fallen apart,
Right in front of my eyes,
And
I am not allowed to die,
Far away,
I see a hope,
And I am clinging to it,
With a rope,
Rope of my faith,
And holding my breath,
To see what next is going to happen,
In this series of hopeful hopeless events,
What next my fate has for me?
And who will win in the end?
My desires or my destiny?
My yearning or my luck?

Eternal White

No countenance,
No answer,
Just a blank page,
For you my Eternal white.
Hold it in darkness,...
It’s colored in Eternal White
With fraternal Blue smiles,
Written with my tears,
Perfumed with my breaths,
Filled with my gravity,
Satires with my sensuality,
Smothered with my immensity,
Just an empty page,
No anagrams,
No language,
No content,
No solution,
No resolution,
This love is a solvent,
It’s colored in eternal white,
In navy blue smiles,
This wishful insanity,
This slithering excitability,
Like impermeable membrane,
No gain,
sleek pleasure,
senseless palpitation,
heavenly temptation,
Intricate obsession,
In each of my cell,
Awakening taking place,
With an intoxicating pace,
On just an empty page,
My soul is in trance,
Dancing with her wavelength,
Prosaically, desperately,
Embracing her glow,
This mindless commotion,
This timeless obsession,
Making my spirits fly,
So high,
With depth of my love,
Inked with my blood,
Fragranced with her sanity,
Sway the pendulum of time,
Call atonement,
To make this love shine,
On this empty page,
That’s colored in Eternal white,
with fraternal blue smiles.
